Some homes ask very little of the camera. This ivory brick home in West Raleigh was one of them: twin gables, arched windows, and nearly 7,000 square feet of rooms full of millwork that only needed good light and a level frame.
The home was already listed for lease when I reached out to its agent and offered a fresh set of photos. The goal was simple: images that match the home’s scale and finishes, and a second first impression for the listing.
The front of this home is all symmetry. Two gables, each with a round window, frame an arched entry and a dark wood front door, with a copper-toned bay to one side.
I photographed it straight on and level, so the symmetry reads the way it does in person. The dappled shade across the paver drive stayed in the frame, because it shows the mature trees that surround the home.

Inside, each room had one detail worth building the photo around.
A two-story entry with an arched window and an iron lantern. I photographed it from the landing above, so the curve of the staircase leads the eye down to the front door.

Cream cabinetry with rope-twist detailing, a warm wood island, and an iron chandelier over it all. I framed it down the center of the island, so the room feels balanced and generous.

A coffered ceiling above, and a wall of French doors and transom windows opening to the deck. A wide frame lets both the ceiling and the light from the doors share the image.

White marble from floor to tub surround, softened by light through a glass-block window. Bathrooms like this one are about calm, so I kept the frame simple and the whites clean.

The deck wraps along the back of the home, with nothing but trees beyond the rail. It is the photo that shows how private this home feels, minutes from the center of Raleigh.

A home with this much character photographs best when the camera stays out of its way.
This October, I am offering one free first shoot to 10 realtors who are new to Lightwell Haus. Only two spots remain, and shoots must be booked by October 31, 2026.
If you have a listing with details worth showing, I would love to photograph it: book your shoot
